I Have a Dream Too

I Have a Dream Too

I also have a dream
That one day you will look at me
And accept me for whom and what I am
And not who you need me to be

I dream of a time when
I will be good enough too
And the world will see us as equals
I will be seen as good as you

The color of my skin
And the texture of my hair
My home land of origin
And the clothes I choose to wear

Will not determine my value
In your eyes
And you will not predetermine
Or start to surmise

The value of my character
The intention of my soul
Can not be determined
By what you have been told

I dream also of a day when
A boy and a girl alike
Can play together joyously
No matter how dark no matter how light

There will be no fear of racism
Or profiling of those unlike us
Because we all would have realized
It is wrong and unjust

I pray that the deaths of Dr. King
And those like
Him will not be in vain...and
We can all unite

As brothers and sisters under God
Joined with one common deed
To love and embrace one another
And somehow we can find peace

So this is the reminder
That I am sending to you
I also have hope and faith in God
And I have a dream too

Anything

Anything

Anything the light touches
Everything known to man
It all started
When your heart reached for my hand

My reason for smiling
The first thought of every day
Is how very much I love you
And it grows in every way

So blessed I have become
In simply knowing your name
And while I met beautiful people
On my path along the way

It feels like my life’s first breath
Began with that first hello
I felt you so deep
In ways you may never know

And if I ever fail
To make you feel divine
Know that I have your heart
As you have always had mine

You are my live unimagined
My wide awake best dream
My heart, my soul
You are my everything

On this unspecific day
In this non-particular note
You have become the best seller
Of the best story I never wrote

So when I raise my hand to God
With thanks for all he has done
No matter what else follows
You are always my number one

The number one reason
Our love is so refined
The number one reason
Each day is so sublime

The most amazing gift
I could have ever received
Giving me more love
Than a fantasy yet conceived

You are my purple spirit
You have become my shining light
Helping me stay focused
Whether during midday or still of night

I love you more every day
And thankful for whom you are
For such love is rarely known
Except amongst the stars

So my prince charming
I never needed a white horse
Because God walks beside us
And keeps us always on our course

Dear Santa

Dear Santa

Dear Santa, children will write you all over the world
Telling you they have been good boys and girls

Asking for gifts as rewards for the deeds
Hoping you will fulfill all of their needs

Some will want cars and some will want trains
Some will want dolls and video games

They will hope you come through while they are sleeping
But I have a wish that I have been keeping

I don’t want a present wrapped and topped with a bow
Or battery operated toys that will stop and will go

My wish is for love for people one and all
No matter how short regardless of how tall

I want countries at war to lay down their arms
And learn to love each other and do no more harm

I want daddies and mommies to come home safe and sound
Placing smiles on faces that have only seen frowns

I want children without food to know what it’s like
To have their stomachs filled for more than one night

Santa I need patience...as I learn my way
And hope for tomorrow ...as it’s a new day

I want forgiveness for those who haven’t been nice
Warm their hearts with joy and melt all the ice

Tell the people in foreign lands that they are our brothers
And we are now ready to start...loving each other

I know what I want won’t fit under a tree
It’s my hope for the future...for you and for me

Remind my fellow man the true intention of my heart
Maybe he will forgive me...and we can make a new start

So if you get a chance to read this letter
Tell God I promise next year we’ll do better
